Project Objectives

To facilitate the application of electron beam accelerators for processing food and agricultural commodities to improve food security; adding value to industrial products including sterilization of medical devices; and treating environmental pollutants

Number of trained personnel, over 100, through regional/national training activities that provide professional knowledge and know-how on the adoption and application of the technology

A number of countries, targeting eight (8), set up a concrete action plan to adopt the facility/equipment

Regional database on facilities, human resources, and infrastructure established and updated annually

Types of Activities

01 Capacity Building

This involves enhancing the skills, knowledge, and competencies of individuals and organizations. Activities include regional training courses, workshops, conference seminars, and expert missions.

02 Consultation

This involves seeking advice from specialists in electron beam and X-ray technology. Expert consultations offer guidance on complex issues, support decision-making, and help countries develop action plans to adopt and maintain eBeam facilities for effective use in food and agriculture, industry, human health, and environmental treatment.

03 Regional Expert Network

This entails building and maintaining a network of professionals across the Asia-Pacific, facilitated by APEX. The network supports information exchange, best practices, and collaboration. APEX members gain access to an annually updated database of facilities, human resources, and infrastructure, fostering regional cooperation and the adoption of electron beam technology.
